Nuclear war started between Russia and China, and it finally destroyed life in the Northern countries. In Australia, Peter and Mary Holmes managed to stay alive at first and they were trying to do everything they were doing before this. People hoped that they wouldn’t die from the radiation but it came so close to them, no one lived.

The main characters of the book are Peter and Mary Holmes. Peter was married with Mary and they had a baby together. He was a good father and a good husband too. Mary was his wife and she loved her baby. She wasn’t afraid of the radiation because she thought it wouldn’t hurt them, but she was wrong. I can’t relate myself with them because my character is different.

The message of the book is that we can use nuclear radiation for a lot of things and it is really dangerous because if we use nuclear radiation for a lot of things and it is really dangerous because if we use it in the wrong way we can destroy the whole world. I think that this book is interesting but it isn’t exactly what I like to read. There weren’t a lot of new words too.

I will tell you about a book named “Farewell my Lovely”. Philip Marlowe was a good detective. One day he met a big man called Moose Malloy. He had been in prison for eight years and he wanted to find his old girlfriend who betrayed him. One day a man named Marriot died and Marlowe found his card. His business card. The name on the card was Amthor. So he went to Mr Amthor’s house to talk. But they hit him and put him in a hospital. He got out and he found out that Malloy was there with the bad guys. He tried to find out secrets about him and he went to Mrs Grayle’s house to get information. Then he discovered that Marriot’s death was a plan to catch him. One morning, when he woke up, he saw Moose Malloy in his house. At the same time Mrs Grayle came too and Malloy understood that Mrs Grayle was his little Velma who betrayed him and she killed him.

Philip Marlowe was my favourite because he was warm-hearted and he liked to help people. He was a great detective and he liked to investigate everything. Moose Malloy wasn’t a good man. I think that he was warm-hearted and smart. Mrs Grayle was intelligent and very bad. She was rich and she was a selfish woman. Detective Randall was hard and very careful. My least favourite character was Malloy.

The message of the book is that we must always try to manage something even if we don’t know how to do it and another one is that love is something that fills our heart. The book was great and a bit confusing. I read it in three days and was fun. It was my type and I’m happy about it. I would like to buy it too because it’s good to have it.

Angelina Kalogeraki “The Danger”

The story is about a woman in Italy named Alessia, a famous jockey that was kidnapped. Andrew Douglas was called to get her back alive. If he made one mistake, Alessia would die. But then there were other kidnappings-all in the horse-racing world-and Douglas was asked to work for them too. The same man was responsible but he didn’t know. He succeeded at it and he found him.

The most important character was Douglas. He was a smart, flexible and good person who wanted the good for everybody. Another important character was the person who kidnapped the people. He was a bad person who wanted everything for himself. The children he kidnapped were young, good and they had a different character. My favourite character was Douglas because he helped everybody without thinking about himself. I don’t think that I can relate with somebody because my character is different, very different.

The message of the book is that we must be interested about others too and not only for ourselves. I recommend this book because it was interesting and it had a very important message. I like this project because it’s different and interesting but it’s also difficult.

Hello! My name is Kiriaki Linou. I’m 12 years old and I’m a very good student. With my essay, I will describe to you the story of the book “The Client”. Once upon a time there was a little boy called Mark. He was 11 years old. He was going to a school, where everyone smoked and were doing other bad things. His parents were divorced. One day he saw a man, who was trying to kill himself. Mark saw this with his little brother, who was in shock. Mark saved this person and went to another place, where he lived with his mother and his brother(America).

My favourite character was Mark’s mother because she loved her children and she cared about everyone around her. I also can relate with her. This book was important and interesting because there was a message, which is necessary in our lives: We should tell the truth and save other people.

Hara Voulgari “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”

Tom Sawyer was a twelve-year-old boy and he lived in a small village near Mississippi with his aunt Polly. Tom was a boy with a great need for adventure which was always getting him into trouble. Luckily, when things got bad at home, he escaped to the river with his friends and lived like a pirate. One day Tom and his friend Huck discovered that two dangerous men are going to take some stolen gold to a secret hiding place. The boys followed them to a haunted house at the top of a mountain. The two boys believed that the treasure was there. But then they discovered that the real treasure was in a cave. Tom and Huck went to the cave from a secret path. They found the treasure and now it was theirs.

Tom was a tall boy with blonde hair and green eyes. He always got into trouble. Polly, Tom’s aunt, was an old woman with grey hair. She was very gentle and sensitive. Huck, Tom’s best friend, was poor with no family and money. He lived in forests and caves. Becky was Tom’s girlfriend. She had blonde hair with braids.

My favourite character was aunt Polly because she was very kind and she cared a lot about Tom and the others. I didn’t like Tom’s teacher, he was very unkind and he always shouted at Tom. I can’t relate myself with any of the characters.

The message of this story is about friendship. We must help our friends and do the best to keep them happy. Even when you are away from your friend, he is always in your heart. This book that I read was an adventure story and I like this type of books. But I couldn’t understand it very well because it had a lot of new words and it was very big to read, in only two weeks.

Tasos Geomelos “Nicholas Nickleby”

Hello! I’m going to tell you about the book “Nicholas Nickleby”. The story is about a teenager named Nicholas. His father died when he was young and then his only hope was his uncle Ralph. His uncle was a money-lender and a cold-hearted man. He had a lot of unpleasant and dangerous friends. Uncle Ralph sent Nicholas away to work at a horrible school that were under terrible conditions. After years, Nicholas returned to his home and the school closed. Finally, Nicholas married Madeline, a beautiful woman and Ralph died. After years, Nicholas and Madeline had several children.

The main characters of the story are: Nicholas Nickleby who was the antagonist, Ralph who was the bad guy in the story, Mr Squeers who was the cruel, one-eyed schoolmaster, Smike who was a poor boy and Nicholas’s friend Madeline, who was a mysterious and beautiful woman, Sir Mulberry Hawk who was an ugly, rich old man and Charles and Ned Cheeryble who were friendly. My favourite character was Nicholas, because he followed his heart and he never thought about money. My least favourite character was Ralph, because he was selfish. I can relate myself with Smike, because I am a good friend too.

The message of the story is that we don’t live to earn money, but we live to feel real love. The book was lovely and realistic. Also it was very interesting and it had suspense. I want to read the continuation. Goodbye!

Steve Melis “The House of a Thousand Lanterns”

Hello! My name is Steve Melis and I am writing about the story of a girl who was fifteen years old. The story begins. Jane was living with her father and mother. Her father died, so her mother went to England to find a job as a housekeeper. She found the job at Mr Milner’s house. He was a collector of old things, like statues. When Jane finished school, she went there to work as a secretary. She had acquaintances with Adam and Jolife. Jolife fell in love with Jane and after some years they got married in Paris. They lived in a house in London in front of a park. They divorced because Jolife was thinking of a woman who died in an accident. So, Jane didn’t want to stay with Jolife. When she returned to Milner’s house, she heard that her mother was seriously ill. After a few days she died. Jane was in shock. She got married with Mr Milner but she continued to love Jolife. Jane and Mr Milner went to Hong Kong to the House of a Thousand Lanterns. After some months Mr Milner died and Jane took charge of Miner’s ventures.

The main characters in the story were Mr Milner, Jolife, Jane’s mother, Adam and Jane. My favourite character was Mr Milner because he wanted Jane’s happiness. My least favourite character was Adam because he wanted Jane. I can relate with Jane because when I lose my temper I do things that I don’t want to do. But I don’t have any similarities with her.

The message of this book is that we must have patience in our lives and we must think before we do anything for no reason. This book was very interesting and nice. It kept me in suspense but sometimes it was a bit boring. I didn’t want to put it down because it was an exciting book. There were a lot of new words but I learnt them from the dictionary. I had a lot of feelings when I was reading this book, like I was sad when I learnt that Mr Milner died. My opinion is that “Victoria Holt”, the writer, had a lot of inspiration when she was writing this book.

People do a lot of things to protect their homes, like they put burglar alarms, they buy dogs that bark so they can scare the thieves, they buy safes to put there valuable things. I think in these days there are many criminals and the crime rate has grown. People use rear-view sunglasses for a lot of important reasons. They want to keep an eye on the children at the park while they are drinking in the cafes or they use them for the burglars. I think that the man who designed the look-alike safes was very clever. Because, people can put their valuables inside it. There are a lot of household items that can be used for a safe like books, paintings and inside wardrobes. I think that there aren’t any disadvantages of look-alike safes. Police don’t recommend stun guns because they can hurt people and they can have serious results. In one situation a whistle is useless. CCTV can help catch criminals in supermarkets and big shops. In my town there is closed circuit TV in our airport.

All people are afraid of burglars, criminals and other bad things. So they try to make their homes safe. Sometimes they have security guards or dogs. I think that we can have other things to protect us like household items that are look-alike safes. We also can have closed circuit TV. Professional spies and detectives use rear-view sunglasses, so they can see what is happening behind them.

Home security engineers have designed special safes to make the burglars’ job more difficult and to protect us from them. Household items like cold drink tins, books or videocassettes can be used as safes, but police reports show that these safes don’t prevent burglaries but they have made it much harder for thieves to find what they want quickly. Police don’t recommend stun guns because the electric shock just annoys them and makes them angry which is not a good idea. A good idea is to have a whistle when an attacker wants to do something bad to you. You can use a whistle. A whistle can protect you because its noise attracts a lot of attention.

Like I said another idea to protect us is CCTV. It provides protection from vandals, shoplifters and burglars. These were some kinds of crime prevention. We all need to be prepared and to have a plan.

People do many things to make their home safe. They may have to lock all the doors and windows before they go to sleep. They have a dog that barks loudly and they have a safe for their valuables. They have bars on their windows and a burglar alarm or a security guard in their buildings. Crime prevention devices have come on the market too. They are useful such as rear-view sunglasses which are usually used by spies and detectives but they allow you to see more than just what’s in front of you so parents who want to keep an eye on their children can use them. Another device is the look-alike safe, which looks like a household item such as cold drink tins, books and videocassettes. A stun gun is a device that police don’t recommend because it can only annoy and make the attacker angry and it won’t stop him. Instead a whistle can be more useful because their noise attracts a lot of attention. Besides that, the most important method of crime prevention is the CCTV system, which is used in public places and private homes. They provide protection from vandals, shoplifters and burglars. Many public places in my town use this kind of protection like the bank and the supermarket in our neighbourhood.

They also put their valuables in a strong box or they hide things behind paintings or in a cupboard etc. To protect yourself from attackers, there are rear-view sunglasses, which help people watch everything behind them. Professional detectives and spies have been using sunglasses for several years. Everyone can design a look-alike safe so they can protect their valuables. Whistles, stun guns and other household items could be used as safes. The look-alike safes have some disadvantages, like the burglars find them and destroy them.

The police don’t recommend stun guns, because everyone can easy have an electric shock. It’s a very dangerous thing, especially for kids. In a situation like this, whistles can be useful, because if someone is hiding you can call for help if the thief is still in the house and the police will catch him. The CCTV helps to catch some criminals, like thieves, burglars etc. In my city, there are some places, which have CCTV, like the police etc. Everyone can be safe in Chios!

These days the crime rate is high. People try to prevent it but some criminals work in gangs and they have a plan of how to get in the homes. A criminal usually wants valuables or money. To prevent it you can use look-alike safes. They are very good because the criminals will get confused and they won’t know that you are hiding your money or your valuables in a big book. Some disadvantages are that if you forget which book hides your money or your valuables, then you are in trouble. A mugger usually attacks suddenly from behind. The rear-view glasses will help you to see him when he is coming from behind to attack you and you will run away or you will turn and kick him suddenly.

In the world there are some crazy killers too. But they don’t only kill, they rob, too. In this situation you should have security guards. They are simple shoplifters but this too can be addictive. Some people steal because it is a thrill for them. This is an illness and will need help because they’ll get caught one day and land in jail! It’s not worth it!

Nowadays, crime is a usual thing. Robbers go into houses and take everything and they sometimes kill everyone in the house. So, people have thought of some things to make their homes safer. They put alarms to sound if a stranger gets into the house, home security and cameras. They also use look-alike safes to hide their valuables in. But I don’t think it’s really useful, because the burglars can find them even if they are a little late, but when they’re looking for the valuables, the owners of the house or a neighbour, can call the police. We use some household items instead of safes, like books or cassettes, but I think that a safe is better…We can put CCTV to catch the burglars and the shoplifters and it’s really useful.

In my area, there are not any CCTVs but we could use them on the roads where people race with their cars and at places where there are a lot of robberies.

In my city buildings like banks and factories have got CCTV. So, in closing, it is always good to have a plan. Try never to be alone and always try to have eyes in back of your head.

They are special and you can see behind you. It’s like you have eyes in the back of your head.

If I am in a dangerous situation I will start to run or I will do my best to pursue him. I think criminals are bad people because they kill or steal people that don’t do anything to them. Their problems are that they haven’t got anyone to love. Police should help lessen the crime rate and they must care about the crime prevention but without violence and stun guns. They must take the criminal out of the streets and put them in an establishment where they can become kinder and more polite.

Sometimes people are in dangerous situations. So we must know what to do if we are in one. I have learnt very little about self-defence so in some situations I can fight but if I don’t know what to do I would run away and call the police. A criminal is someone who does illegal things, crimes and people are afraid of him, but to be a criminal you probably have problems in your life. Maybe he has problems in his family or with his girlfriend. Also he may not have money and he steals to live. Two crimes involve physical violence against a person. If you hit him or you rob him. Both of them are very bad.

If you don’t want someone to commit a crime, you can do something to help yourself. Like to learn self-defence. You can protect yourself with self-defence because you know what to do by not doing something bad to him. But I think that we must know how to protect ourselves because crime is everywhere.

In a dangerous situation I am going to beg God to help me, I am going to have composure, I am going to give my best to overcome it and I am going to use self-control. I think that a criminal is a kind of a bad person, a person who loves money, but it could be a poor person who wants to live, to survive and he/she doesn’t have enough money or an ill person who needs money for medicine. So a criminal sometimes is a bad and an unconscious person or a poor person who needs help or money. If you want to prevent crime you must have a burglar alarm, leave lights on when you are going to go somewhere at night, it’s good to have a dog outside your house because the burglars don’t go to houses which have dogs, you must also have bars on your windows and good strong locks. Two crimes, which involve physical violence against a person, are: school violence and children’s violence, which are extreme cases.

If someone attacks me on the road or breaks into my house, firstly I will not get into a fight. If that person wants a fight and I have to knock his black off, but to do this I have to take self-defence courses. If he is not bellied it is an advantage for me. Most criminals are big, tall and have an ugly face. A person that commits a crime may have financial difficulties or he may be crazy. Video cameras, stun guns and policemen help to decrease the crime rate. Sometimes police can’t help you so another important thing is self-defence.

Some people are in dangerous situations. Criminals sometimes are good people, who don’t have any chance to do anything with their life. Also, criminals can be very bad people, who have chances to work etc, but they don’t want to do it. I also think that they have a lot of problems, like they don’t know what to do to be rich and so they do a lot of bad things to save their families and their homes. The police can help to prevent crimes and protect all citizens. But sometimes the crimes are so many and very well planned and so, the real responsible people are free and sometimes other people are in the prison and they haven’t done anything. That’s awful. But always the real responsible of those crimes are in prison for several years.

Another solution to prevent the crimes is to have special television(CCTV). We can also have a security guard to protect us and crime prevention will be very high, a thing which is great for everyone, especially for the older people, who really want the protection and the care of the government. Everyone can do something to be better, so let’s do it.

In our world there are some people who write on the walls, hit people, break things in school and bully the younger children. They are usually teenagers. But the question is: Why are they doing this? These people may have a problem with their brain. They may have problems with their parents or they have financial difficulties. But who knows, maybe they think it is funny and that if they do it, they become better people. That’s wrong.

If this happened in my school I would report it to the headmaster and the teachers. But if it happened out of school I would report it to the police. If I saw a person bullying a small child I would hit him with my bag and I would report it to the police. Then I would take the small boy to his house. Of course I could get hurt myself but these are the chances we all should take to make positive changes in our world today.

I’m afraid of a lot of things, but I’m really afraid of criminals. I think that in a dangerous situation like an attack, I would scream and try to run away. But if I couldn’t manage to run away, I would kick him and try to call someone on my mobile phone. I think that criminals are really dangerous because they can do anything without thinking about it. They don’t have a reason to steal or kill but they may have problems with their family or they just don’t have friends or have a problem with their brain. We could prevent a crime by learning marshal arts like karate or judo or just by running away to save ourselves.

Some kinds of people get attacked or mugged on the streets. If someone looks weak and scared they are perfect for a mugging. But if a person looks strong, clever and aware, then they will usually be left alone. A good rule is to always think about a plan. Never let your mind wander when you’re walking. Also, never walk alone, especially if you are a girl!

In a dangerous situation I would run to call an older person and stronger than me and then I would call the police. Criminals are cruel people that want to become rich or stronger. They commit crimes for fun and to be famous. Most of the criminals have got financial difficulties so they commit crimes to steal money and valuables, but some of them have psychological problems. Two crimes that involve physical violence against a person are muggings and murders. We can help to prevent crimes by helping people with financial and psychological problems, so they needn’t steal or attack and kill someone. We also need to speak out about crime and learn self-defence. Prevention is the key.
